This state park located in Winder, GA offers a variety of recreational activities surrounding a lake. Camping, swimming, picnicking, biking, hiking, or staying in a cottage or yurt are popular activities here. I especially like the yellow lake loop trail (7 miles-ranked easy other than the distance may challenge some). This trail occasionally intersects with a 12.5 mountain bike trail. Follow the yellow blazes to remain on the lake loop trail. This trail is popular but always easy to space out and at times I have walked it with only passing a couple other people.
Yurts look fun but they are not dog friendly so I have never stayed in them. They might be a good option for some who are easing into the camping experience!
Day entrance fee is 5$ or annual passes are available for 50$-provides access to all of GA’s state parks.
