The Lost Valley trail is reported to be the most popular trail in the national park. It includes a natural bridge, caves, and a waterfall. It was very dry when we were here at the end of September and Eden cave was closed due to Covid, but the trail was still worth it. Cobb cave is a huge open cave worth walking in. It wasn’t overly crowded on a weekday. It was fun walking through the natural bridge, which wouldn’t have been as easy to accomplish if the water had been flowing more. This trail is 2.2 miles round trip and is NOT dog friendly. Parking is free.
This trail is located on Highway 43 close to Ponca and the Boxley Valley. A sign clearly marks the entrance to the parking area for this trail.
Note: we discovered that for the most part, you will be exploring all around here without cell service. We found it necessary to plan our route and stops in advance. We had to use our vehicle GPS system at times. We were unable to look up nearby points of interest once we left for a day, so what we had already planned was all we could do unless we paid attention and stopped places we just happened to drive by. Exploring this area is amazing but prepare well, it definitely takes some advanced planning!
